Water chemical analysis

The analysis of water represents the first step towards the successful design of a water treatment plant. OSMO SISTEMI S.r.l. offers a wide range of kits, which can be used to determine the water organoleptic parameters.

SDI kit for SDI test (silt density index)

Colloidal fouling of reverse osmosis elements can seriously impair the performance by lowering productivity and sometimes salt rejection. The major source of silt or colloids in reverse osmosis feed waters varies and often includes bacteria, clay, colloidal silica, and iron corrosion products. The best available technology for determining the colloidal fouling potential of reverse osmosis feed water is the measurement of the Silt Density Index (SDI), sometimes referred to as the Fouling Index (FI). This is an important measurement to be carried out prior to designing an RO pre-treatment system and on a regular basis during RO operations.

Analysis kits

OSMO SISTEMI provides pocket kits including reagents, test tubes, etc., in order to carry out organoleptic water analysis in any place outside the laboratory on site. The kits offer two types of analysis, that can be performed: by titrations and by colorimetric reactions.
TITRATION WITH IPT DROPS is simple, fast, sufficiently precise and economical. It’s enough to put sample water in the tube, add an indicator and then the drops of titrant until the solution color changes. The consumed drops of titrant correspond to the value of the parameter value under analysis.
VISUAL COLORIMETRIC ANALYSIS WITH IPT DROPS In presence of suitable reagents, existing water constituent generates a color whose intensity is proportional to its concentration, determined by simple comparison of the sample with a color scale, supplied in each kit. pH meter

PH meter, electric device used to measure hydrogen-ion activity (acidity or alkalinity) in solution. The measurement of pH in the raw water or product is another important factor to know in order to design properly a Reverse Osmosis unit.

Conductivity meter

Conductivity is the primary measurement of mineral contamination in water and has been in use for this purpose for well over a century. As an on-line measurement it provides inexpensive, reliable monitoring of water quality through the various stages of treatment. The technology for conductivity measurement has improved through many generations of analog and microprocessor-controlled measuring circuits and has greatly improved accuracy and temperature compensation.
